Setting up a local development environment

Wondering how to develop your Drupal site on your own machine?
Are there times when working on a remote server just isn't convenient?
Are you ever stuck somewhere without an internet connection?

I'll walk through how to get MAMP installed, editing your etc/hosts file, setting up Apache's httpd.conf, configuring your MySQL database, installing Drupal, using phpMyadmin, installing drush, and, if we have time and network, hooking up to GitHub.

The demo will be on a Mac laptop, but the procedure for Windows will be very similar.
